Puri,

Mr. Puri is a director of the following Indian companies: Mahindra and Mahindra, Tech Mahindra and Dr. Reddy's Labs, and on the Advisory Board of Spencer Stuart, India. He previously was a senior director at McKinsey & Company (“McKinsey”), where he worked between 1970 and 2000.

Early in his career at McKinsey, Mr. Puri worked with governments in the United States, the United Kingdom, Mexico and Australia, and with several United Nations agencies and multilateral development banks, on issues of economic development and industrial policy. In the aftermath of the 1973 oil crisis, he helped create the plan for the development of Saudi Arabia’s petrochemical industry, assisted in the re-structuring of the European textile and steel industries for the European Economic Community (“EEC”), led the creation of a new structure for the Venezuelan oil industry, and advised the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (“OPEC”) on oil policy. For the next 15 years, he served a handful of large multinational companies on global strategy, organization and performance improvement.

From 1990 to 1998, Mr. Puri founded and managed McKinsey’s practice in India, which has now grown to over 350 professional staff. He served many of India’s leading industrial and consumer businesses in preparing to compete in a liberalized economy, and served India’s largest public sector bank and, later, its largest private sector bank in developing their blueprints for transformation. From 1996 onwards, Mr. Puri was an elected member of McKinsey’s Board of Directors, and from 1998 onwards he oversaw all of McKinsey’s Asian and Latin American practices.

Before joining McKinsey, he was Advisor for Industrial Development to the President of Algeria and consultant to General Electric’s Center for Advanced Studies.
